1- BASIC OPTIONS (EXPORT AND IMPORT)

This addon allows you to Import or export to ICS or CSV files

EXPORT: click on wished file format Export button and download will start immediately.

  • Export events to ICS (i.g. iCal)
  • Export events, organizers and places to CSV

 

IMPORTselect your events, organizers or places file and the right file format Import button. Importing (upload) will start immediately.

  • Import events from ICS (i.g. iCal, Facebook or Google+)
  • Import events, organizers and places from CSV

 

BULK DATA: Import or export bulk data is specially recommended for projects that have lots of events, organizers or places. Save time importing or exporting your data in just one click.

 

 

 

2- BACK UP - SAVE EVENTS AND DATA

Do you need to create a backup copy of your current Chronosly data (events, organizers and places)?

That's really easy, just click on wished data (events, organizers or places) EXPORT button and a backup copy will be immediately downloaded.

To import your back up data, just choose your download file in the same format and click to IMPORT button.

3- RESTORE PREVIOUS IMPORT VERSION

RESTORE options appear only when a file has been imported to Chronosly.

It only allows you to restore PREVIOUS import. So, it is highly recommended to check if all parameters have been correctly imported every time a file is uploaded.

4- HOW TO CREATE CSV BASE FILE FOR IMPORT

To create a CSV base file, i.g. import events, organizers or places in bulk we recommend:

  1. Create an event, organizer or place that contains all parameters that should have imported data.
  2. Export events, organizers or places to CSV file.
  3. Work on exported CSV file including your new data keeping CSV original formats*.
  4. Import CSV file to Chronosly.

 

*Notes for CSV base :

- There is no existing standardised CSV file because each project could have its own parameters.

- Date formats are yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm and mm-dd-yyyy hh:mm

- Use TAB to separate parameters. Text delimiter is ".  (By default in CSV export).

- Don't use line break on fields, use <br/> instead to preserve csv row

 

- Use double pipe || to separate multiple elements for categories, organizers and places (i.g "Org1||Org2||Org3").

Image parameter is defined as an URL, it will be automatically downloaded, added to your site and included to your event/s.

- Repeat every is defined by a number and parameter: day, week, month, year (always in singular), i.g "1 day", "5 week", "2 month", "1 year".

Repeat end could be two types of parameters, number or date:

Number: defines number of times repeated.

Date: defines date Y-m-d when repeats end (i.g 2015-01-30).

 - Is repeated is not used at the moment, but must be 0.

- Tikets is not used at the moment, better leave blank.

To import events from Facebook follow these 7 easy steps:

1- Go to your Facebook upcoming events (need to be logged in)

2- Right click "Copy link address...". This link address should be something like:

webcal://www.facebook.com/ical/u.php?uid=10000192982&key=AQAYC_goq-dLSo

3- Paste copied link address to your browser and Delete "webcal://" from pasted link address: After deleting "webcal://" it should be something like:

4- Access to resulting link address without "webcal://"

5- ICS file will start downloading

6- Go to Chronosly Import & Export Addon and select downloaded ICS file from Facebook in "Import events from ics" option.

7- Click IMPORT button from "Import events from ics" option.

Note: Facebook events include organizer, who is the same user that created the event. Take into account, because that after importing to Chronosly, events from Facebook will be linked to an organizer. Remember to change organizer or delete afterwards if needed.

IMPORT TO FACEBOOK: Facebook isn't a calendar management application so there's no native method of importing events. Till Facebook doesn’t include an API, Chronosly should develop an app for Facebook, unfortunately this is not our mission. At the moment we are focused on WordPress market.

To import events from Google Calendar follow these 7 easy steps:

1- Go to your Google calendar account (need to be logged in)

2- Click on you wished calendar settings into drop-down menu

3- Select ICAL logo in PRIVATE ADDRESS section from your Google calendar settings

7- FRONTEND EXPORT

Since Import and Export v.1.8, this addon include Frontend export, an useful feature that helps you to include a link (URL) into your site. This link allow your web users to export ALL your event to a .ics file in just one click.

How to set FRONTEND EXPORT for all events?

You just need to insert source code below within a link.

Then, place your link in a page from your site, where you want to allow your users to download (export) all events in just one click to a .ics file.

CSV files (Import & Export addon)



We realised that some users could have some troubles with Import and Export Addon.

This FAQ section will help you to avoid some importing ERRORS, most common related in CSV parameter format.

HOW TO CREATE CSV BASE FILE FOR IMPORT

To create a CSV base file, i.g. import events, organizers or places in bulk we recommend:

1.- Create an event, organizer or place

This event, organizer or place should contain all the parameters that should appear on the imported data.

 

 

2- Export events, organizers or places to CSV file.

Select from EXPORT CSV the wished option (events, organizers or places)

3- Work on exported CSV file including your new data and keeping CSV original formats.

In this sample there are 2 different events, and when open the exported CSV file from Chronosly (i.g. Excel) it should look like this:

To create new events, delete all old data from imported CSV and keep row 1 for headers.

Insert your new events, organizers or places  Import CSV file to Chronosly.

In the example below, we added 10 new events for 2015. We took special attention keeping original formats, in special in "From" and "To" columns:

CSV FORMATS

There is no existing standardised CSV file because each project could have its own parameters

Take those 8 basic parameters as a must:

  1. Date (From - To)
  2. Title
  3. Description
  4. Image
  5. URL
  6. Categories, Organizers, Places
  7. Repeat parameters
  8. Tickets (not used)

1- Date formats are:

yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm 

and

mm-dd-yyyy hh:mm 

WARNING: sometimes Excel changes formats to "dd-mm-yyyy" (for example to ISO - EURO for european users). See image below:

2- Title format: al text introduced will be displayed on title as plain text.

3- Description: formated text is available using html code like "<strong>" for bold text or "</br> " for line break. Learn more about WordPress html tags.

Use TAB to separate parameters. Text delimiter is ".  (By default in CSV export)

4- Image parameter is defined as an URL, it will be automatically downloaded, added to your site and included to your event.

5- URL: URL for your event. Better leave blank for importing.

6- Categories, Organizers, Places: use double pipe || to separate multiple elements for categories, organizers and places (i.g "Org1||Org2||Org3″).

7- Repeat parameters:

- Repeat every is defined by a number and parameter: day, week, month, year (always in singular), i.g "3 day", "5 week", "2 month", "1 year".

- Repeat end could be two types of parameters, number or date:

-Number: defines number of times repeated.

HOW TO CHANGE FORMATS

If formats have been changed when you open CSV file or when you are editing CSV file, follow these steps to format cells as original:

1- Select cell range you want to change date format

2-Right click on selected cell range and choose "Format Cells..." option

3- Choose "Number" format

4- Choose "Custom"

5- Set "Type:" to yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm or mm-dd-yyyy hh:mm

6- Save changes
