Clone and Create templates

You can't modify "original" templates (predefined, downloaded  or purchased in marketplace)

The mains reason that "original" templates can't be modified is further template autoupdates and addons upload will be automatically. So your changes would be overwritten by new update source code.

To avoid that,

you have to CLONE your template

and start customizing it through Clone option in Template editor.

There is also, Create option, that allows you to create variations of a template and save as a new one, having the original as a "backup".

Template status

This feature automatically check how different templates are used on events, organizers, places and categories.

Template status will list all templates you are using, in addition, has included a list of events for each view.

Chronosly - Template status checked for All event list

Template status includes a pie chart that lets you see at a glance all the templates you are using.

Therefore, if you use many templates you see wich you have modified and what views are involved in these changes.

It is important to know at all times the use of these customized templates, because if you upadate, the updates may involve changes with undesirable results.

In these cases, it is best to clone the templates and only update the clones and review the results.

On the other hand, not customized templates (like default or template marketplace downloads) will be updated taking into account the elements you're using so they do not suffer unexpected variations.

Edited Templates – Troubleshooting

How to solve edited templates issues

Is quite common that some users can't see their edited custom templates through Template Editor.

Most of those cases are not caused by a Chronosly misfunction, so we recommend to check these 3 point:

1- SAVE EDITED TEMPLATE BEFORE CHANGE VIEW

Check if you have edited a template from "EDIT TEMPLATES" and has been saved.

You should see here all custom edited views here. If you don’t see the changes that you customized on each view that you edited probably you didn’t saved after changes.

IMPORTANT: Each customized view needs to be saved before to change to an other view.

2- ACTIVATE FORCE DEFAULT TEMPLATE OPTION

Check that Chronosly settings > "Template Editor" don’t have selected "Force default template". Default template is forced by default.

On the other hand, if you want to use customized template, you should select wished custom template in "Force default template" to show in your site.

Settings - Force and change default template
Settings - Force and change default template

3- CHANGE TEMPLATE IN EACH VIEW

Check, during event edition, that wished custom template is selected and all changes have been saved. Remember that you have to select which template is used in each view.

If you just change a view for a custom template and then saved, other views are still using selected template on Chronosly settings. If you don’t want to change all views one by one you can use point 2 and change "Force default template".

Edited individual views. All other views keep default template

If you check all those 3 alternatives Chronosly should show your custom edited template. If you continue having problems showing events with wished template you may send us a ticket via our Contact page.

2- Set editing tools in Chronosly > Settings > Template Editor

Min. event width px

Set the minimum event width of your events and the rest of Chronosly views.

Note that if you set a minimum px which is too low you may have problems with the Responsive versions (only if you have chosen a template optimized for Mobile devices).

The minimum set is not fixed, and it depends on the applied template. Chronosly highly recommend to check, that once the minimum is modified, the different views of the template you are using are correctly shown.

Max. event width px

Set the maximum event width of your events and the rest of Chronosly views. By default, this width is 800px.

Note that if you modify this options you may have problems with the Responsive versions (only if you have chosen a template optimized for Mobile devices).

The maximum set is not fixed, and it depends on the applied template. Chronosly highly recommend to check, that once the minimum is modified, the different views of the template you are using are correctly shown

Show load template / Show load view

The option of load template or load view is enabled by default, so different templates / views can be chosen and loaded in the Template editor.

This option is especially useful to prevent other users (team members or clients) from changing or modifying how the events are shown in the site.
