Quick start – 15 Chronosly first steps

Chronosly quick start is divided into 15 points, carefully made to help you to understand how your Chronosly event calendar plugin works and get the most out of it.

Install

1- Go to 'Plugins' menu in WordPress
2- Click 'Add new' on the top
3- Click upload
4- Select the Chronosly zip file and wait for upload
5- Activate the plugin when uploads its ok

or

1- Unzip the download zip file
2- Upload 'chronolsy' to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory
3- Activate the plugin through the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

 

HOW TO MAKE CHRONOSLY VISIBLE

By default Chronosly automatically creates your pages for events, calendar, categories, organizer* and places*.

 

*Chronosly Lite version doesn't include Organizers & Places. Add them using this Organizers & Places addon (sold separately).

 

 

You could find your pages, e.g. yoursite.com:

Events: yoursite.com/events
Calendar: yoursite.com/calendar
Categories: yoursite.com/event_categories
Organizers: yoursite.com/organizers
Places: yoursite.com/places

License

Chronosly FULL version (transparent)  Only for Chronosly FULL version  

 

Note: there are 2 different license key sources:

  • chronosly.com
  • Codecanyon

 

Licence: Purchases from chronosly.com

New Chronosly clients (from 23th june 2015) who purchased Chronosly Full version in chonosly.com:

  • find your license key in your purchase confirmation email (image below)
  • go to Chronosly my account (if you created during checkout process)

License: Codecanyon users

For old Chronosly clients who purchased from Codecanyon, you can find your license key in your Codecanyon account.

  1. Make sure that you logged in to your Codecanyon account.
  2. Visit your Downloads section, find the plugin, that you want to get a license key for, and click the button Download, then Licence Certificate.
  3. Find the Item Purchase Code in the text document.

Set Chronosly License key

  1. Go to WordPress dashboard and find on sidebar Chronosly > Settings > Status and paste it into the form inside the plugin.
  2. Final step,  Save to validate.

Important note for Core and Templates automatic updates

Only if  you don't make any  code modifications, for example Template customization.
In order to allow automatic Core and Templates updates, you should have write permission for the plugin folder:

wp-content/plugins/addons

Events

Events are the main element of the calendar. Everything revolves around them because without events calendar is meaningless.

To create a new event should go to the Events Menu > Add new Event

Date

Show your users and audience when events are taking place, also recurrent events over time.

By default, if you have not changed the display settings, Date and time find below the Template section.

To clear a date or time of beginning or end of an event leave it blank.

Tickets

Manage all your event tickets and registrations. Show all important details about your event tickets, such as number of tickets available, price, capacity and much more.

 

Title: Create the name of your ticket type. Give a descriptive name to ensure you can distinguish between them when you define capacity and availability.

Price: Show ticket prices, also change currency and availability.

Categories

Categories are useful for your audience to be easy to find your events lately.
Chronosly has unlimited categories, so you can create as much categories as you need within events, e.g. jazz, electronic, rock, or anything you consider it'll be relevant for them.

Set up Categories is highly recommended, if not, views with categories involved can’t be shown. There are 2 different categories views:

- General View: how the category is displayed in the list of categories.

- Inner page view: it is the inner view of your category, a single page on the place, where all the information is shown.

There are two ways to create categories:

1 - In Events > Add new event when you are adding a new event or within Events> Event when editing an event already created.

By default, if you have not changed the display options, find Organizers on the right sidebar.

Unlike point 1, you can add a description and change the slug.

Name / Title is mandatory whenever you create a new category. Leave the fields in blank and will not appear.

Before customizing categories, make sure your chosen template is set to display category colors or featured customizations.

Organizers

Create profiles of the participants that are involved in your events e.g persons, universities, companies, corporations.

Set up Organizers is highly recommended, if not, views with organizers involved can’t be shown. There are 2 different organizers views:

- General View: how the organizer is displayed in the list of organizers.

- Inner page view: it is the inner view of your organizer, a single page on the place, where all the information is shown.

 

There are two ways to create organizers:

1 - In Events > Add new event when you are adding a new event or within Events> Event when editing an event already created.

By default, if you have not changed the display options, find Organizers on the right sidebar.

Places

Create all places where your events will take place.

Set up Places is highly recommended, if not, views with places involved can’t be shown. There are 2 different places views:

- General View: how the place is displayed in the list of places.

- Inner page view: it is the inner view of your place, a single page on the place, where all the information is shown.

There are two ways to create places:

1 - In Events > Add new event when you are adding a new event or within Events> Event when editing an event already created.

By default, if you have not changed the display options, find Places on the right sidebar.

2 - Within Events> Organizers in the left sidebar.

Unlike point 1, you can add a description, other useful information (Address, City, Country, State, Postal Code, Latitude & Longitude (Geolocation), Phone, Mail and Website) and change the slug.

TIP Latitude & Longitude drag and drop: To set a place in Chronosly calendar, fill in the address information and a map maker will appear at the right location.


-If the map marker doesn’t show the right location we suggest to add all address info including the post code.

Important: Before fill all optional fields of a places or set featured places, make sure your chosen template is set to display this information.

Others

The main Options you'll find in Chronosly are:

Featured: give more prominence to a specific element e.g. Categories, Places, Organizers, Tickets. Featuring an element means making look different from normal ones. Featured elements are more likely to Attract the attention of visitors calendar.

Order: default Chronosly all items ordered by date. This option is useful for customizing the order of any of the elements to give greater visibility and importance over the rest.

If you want to change the default Order by another criterion you can go to Settings Chronosly> Settings> General> General Settings> Event sort order.

By default, if you have not changed the display options, find Options in the right sidebar of items with this configuration: events, categories, organizers and places.

Chronosly views

Chronosly has 15 different views for your calendar and look and feel depends on the type of template has been applied.

The most important and indispensable 3 views are All events list view, Single event view and Calendar view.

Here are the 15  grouped according to different element reference (click on titles links to find screenshots and extra information of each view):

Chronosly includes Default template with every license.

Once you have found your Templates, you can Upload through this tool going to Chronosly > Edit Templates

Automatic template updates are only available for unmodified templates. If you are not planning to make changes on Templates you can activate automatic updates for all your templates.

Important note for Templates automatic updates: In order to allow automatic template updates, you should have write permission for the plugin folder:

wp-content/plugins/custom-templates

Custom templates

If editing views through Events (check editable views) you are not editing Templates, you modify that one in particular. Therefore, updates (Update button) in each view will save as a "Template edited" automatically. You will also be able to recover that Custom Template when you need it via Select template tool in each Events view.

Chronosly Templates market place

Get new templates with many different options and designs. Choose which best matches your needs or site style.

There are two ways to access to Templates marketplace:

1- Accessing it through Events menu in Events > Download Templates

Upload new templates via Upload template tool mentioned in the previous point.

Settings

To begin with, you will find the Chronosly settings in menu sidebar: Chronosly > Settings

Choose Chronosly profile

Chronosly has two types of profiles:

Chronosly - Basic profileAll set to use. You only need to install the plugin, select between different Templates, the one you like for your events or the one that best suits your website and then upload your events. Easy, very easy.

 

Chronosly - Advanced profile

Advanced (Pro)
This profile allows you to customize all templates without restrictions. You can easily change the templates with the Drag & Drop system of the Template Editor tool or customize css style directly.

Advanced profile has special features, mainly the Template Editor, can totally change the Templates to the needs of each project.

If you know programming, everything becomes easy to edit for Templates. Whether through modify through specific sections for custom CSS styles or programming directly on the open source plugin.

 

There are two ways to change Chronosly profiles:

1- To select the profile you must go to Chronosly> Change profile

Addons

Chronosly addons allow to extend the basic functionalities for the WordPress event calendar plugin, like social media sharing, rating and reviews, Eventbrite ticketing, importing from Google Calendar or Facebook and much more.

Chronosly Addons market place

Addons that include other advanced features calendar plugin can be found in our marketplace.

There are two ways to access to Addons marketplace:

1- Accessing it through Events menu in Events > Download Addons

Once downloaded a addon, Chronosly gives you a tool so that it can install (upload).

You can find the addon assistant in Chronosly tab Chronosly > Addon settings. Just click on Select file, choose downloaded addon file and your addon will be automatically uploaded.

Addons License key - Validations and activation

When you 'purchase' an addon (also templates) from our Addon Marketplace, you are actually purchasing a license to use that item.

To validate and activate 'purchased' addons fill in the License key for updates with the key that you will receive by email.

Template Editor - Advanced (PRO) users

Template editor is enabled by default, but just be sure that this option is activated in Chronosly > Settings > General Settings.

As mentioned above in Calendar views, Chronosly has 15 different views for your calendar.

Those pages and events in each view has his own templates that are fully customizable and editable through a Template editor in Chronosly > Edit Templates.

First step in Template Editor is to choose your Template (Find more info about download, install and set up Templates).

Chronosly provides you some main Template options:

-You can easily Upload templates.

-Clone tool, you can't modify predefined or download templates because further template autoupdates and addons upload will be automatically. So, clone them and modify the copy.

-Create let you variations of a template and save as a new one, having the original as a "backup".

There are other Template options in Edit Template section:

-Select template allows you to choose from all your Templates (default, uploaded,  created or cloned) and it will be available to customize in Template Editor section.

-Select view enables you to choose from all 15 available views. Your choise will be loaded and ready to modify in Template Editor.

As soon as template and view has been selected you can start customizing your templates with Template Editor tools: Live Template preview, Tool bar, Drag and Drop system, and Other Template display options.

-Live Template preview allows you to watch each modification instantly, once a dropped element on the Template Editor you can instantly check how will appear on your site calendar.

-Template Editor Tool bar, click on a Live Template preview element and Tool bar will pop up. There are many options that let you customize you template, each element has his own Tool bar buttons and options.

-Drag and Drop system let you add new boxes for extra text, links, images and lots of other customizations just by dragging and dropping on the template preview.

Live preview extra options those options let lick on a Live Template preview element and Tool bar will pop up. There are many options that let you customize you template, each element has his own Tool bar buttons and options.

-Hidden boxes Show javascript hidden actions. For example let you see folded an unfolded events. Useful to customize both views with different appearances.

-Featured style  Allows you to switch between Featured style and Normal to customize both views with different appearances.

-Remove Lorem ipsum By default, Live Template preview fill template views selected with Lorem ipsum text. This allows you, without any event or other created element like e.g. organizer, place..., to be able to appreciate final results at a glance than without text would be impossible. Select this option to remove Lorem ipsum text form Love Template preview.

-Remove all content Select this option to remove all selected view template elements e.g. boxes, titles, descriptions, images, galleries... and start from scratch.
