Why – Events don’t show up

WHY MY EVENTS DON'T SHOW UP?

This is one of the most common FAQ in Chronosly Support. Many times this question has an easy solution. If you can't see your events in calendar or in lists:

Possible solution 1

Chronosly event, organizers, places and categories lists and calendar views only show month events. Main event list display is "MONTH" by default.

If you don't have events on he current month, events will not displaye until you change the main configs.

  1. Go to Chronosly > Settings > Events display section
  2. Set "UPCOMING" option in Main event list display
Set Main event list display yearly
Set Main event list display to YEAR

3- On the next fied set number of DAYS range to show all your events, eg: 300

For further information, visit FAQ section about Upcoming Events

Tip: in point 3, set the day range for upcoming events. e.g. 100. Count days beyond till last event you want to show (from today till last event you want to show in the future).

How to set up Upcoming events
Upcoming events SET UP

Tip: in point 2, you could change this option if you want them to be shown annually, monthly, weekly or upcoming for a day range.

Possible solution 2

Events datetime is not properly set.

Set HOUR  both parameters (hour and minute) using format hh:mm.

  • set time format 24hours (e.g 1pm is 13:00)

- 12am as "00" "00" and 12pm as "12" "00"
- 1am as "01" "00" and 1pm as "13" "00"
- 8am as "08" "00" and 8pm as "20" "00"

  • don't insert parameters like am or pm within fields

Check this time format common mistakes.

Possible solution 3

Is possible you have some malfunction with your template.

The better solution for check if template is not working properly is going to Chronosly > Settings > Template Editor, and force the default template.

2. RECURRING AND REPEAT EVENTS

You can make an event repeat over a period of time like daily, weekly or every year. Repeating events saves you the time it would take to create multiple separate events and let’s you change all events in the series at once.

If you choose to repeat an event, more options will appear such as repeating the event over a period time, either in days, weeks or years. These new options will allow you to set the end of the repetitions, by setting an exact end date o a definite number of repetitions, for examples the event to ve repeated twice.

Chronosly - Date and time event repeat options

Chronosly FEATURES Advanced Recurrent / Repeat events settings

chronosly-warning-logo-lqNote: Chronosly does not allow certain repetitions to be set. If the number of days with events is over a week or a month, the system does not allow the event to be published. E.g. if you create 8-days events, these can not be repeated weekly. 32-days events can not be set with weekly or monthly repetition.

It is possible to set 3-days events with daily repetitions. In this case the event would be repeated every 2 days.

ENHANCE YOUR RECURRENT EVENTS

RECURRING EVENTS ADDON: This addon will allow you to SET ANY EVENT PATTERN.

It’s very easy to use. You simply create seasons within each event and then you will be able to create complex repeating combinations within that same event.

Also, Recurring events addon allow you to MANAGE MULTIPLE REPEATS of the same event, on the same day and even at the same hour. This is quite useful for clients who manage theater performances, classes etc…

4. GOOGLE MAPS SCRIPT PROBLEMS

For our experience with many clients and websites, Google maps script included in Chronosly might cause some troubles. Most of the time, those misfunctions come from gmaps script duplication. That means other plugin/s installed in a site already has a gmaps script included.

Google maps only allow loading its script once within same site, so maps would not display or just generate errors.

To solve it, Chronosly include an option to enable/disable gmaps script.

You would find enable/disable gmaps script option within:

Chronosly > Settings > Incompatibilities

Google maps script option
Chronosly google maps script management

By default, if you have not changed the display options, find Options in the right sidebar of items with this configuration: events, categories, organizers and places.

Chronosly order and featured event options

There are two main options you'll find in Chronosly:

1. FEATURED EVENTS

Featured events give more prominence to a specific element e.g. Categories, Places, Organizers, Tickets. Featuring an element means making look different from normal ones. Featured elements are more likely to Attract the attention of visitor.

In this example you can see diferences between Featured and Normal events. You can visit our Live Demo for more real examples (Featured vs Normal style) clicking on each tab, Events, Organizers, Places and Categories.

Here is an example of Featured event vs Normal event in a Event list

To set featured  Events, also for Organizers, Places and Categories, you can find the option on the metaboxes on sidebar side (by default).

- Select featured in Options box to set Featured style (Check first if template applied has included a featured design).

- If you want a Featured image as example add an image in "featured image" metabox in sidebar side. (Check first if template applied has included this featured image design).

Here is an example, where to find featured option and how to set Featured image in Chronosly back end.

ENABLE FEATURED IMAGE OPTION FOR EVENTS

FEATURED IMAGE SIZE AND ASPECT RATIO

Chronosly automatically scales and center images to fit to Featured image.

Best images high/width ratio are 0,7, so we always recommend images in portrait than landscape.

This is an example how a 800x430px is cropped and center when is added as a Featured image into a Chronosly event.

Original image 800x533
Image 800x533

However, if images are 16:9 or over (landscape) they can make some blank spaces as image below.

DISABLE FEATURED ON TOP

Disable "Featured on top" option to sort your Featured events by same criteria you choose in General settings.

Event list Featured on top option

2. ORDER

By default, Chronosly all items are ordered by date. This option is useful for customizing the order of any of the elements to give greater visibility and importance over the rest.If you want to change the default Order by another criterion you can go to Settings Chronosly> Settings> General> General Settings> Event sort order.

TIP for ORDER option: if you start using Order in some events, and you leave order in blank on others Chronosly will understand blank ones like "0".  So, all those events with blank order will be placed in first positions.

Why – Images don’t show up

WHY IMAGES DON'T SHOW UP?

Chronosly event calendar plugin fits the vast majority of WordPress Themes available in the market. From first outline design, Chronosly was only programmed with this objective, to fit 100% of WordPress Themes.

Nonetheless, this matter can be out of reach, and sometimes, just a few, Themes are incompatible with Chronosly plugin.

HOW TO ENABLE FEATURED EVENT IMAGES

Unfortunately Chronosly Support team can't do anything with this issue because this it doesn't come from Chronosly.

There are 2 ways to solve it:

  1. Inserting code to your theme (programming skills needed)
  2. Contact to your theme supplier

1. ENABLE FEATURE IMAGES INSERTING CODE

To solve this theme issue is necessary to change a bit of code that ask for images in case of theme just ignore them:

  1. Go to WP Theme options
  2. Check if this code is shown within your theme
    add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array("post"));
  3. If you find it, you should modify allowing featured images as:
add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array("chronosly", "chronosly_organizer", "chronosly_places"));

However, if point 2 code isn’t in your theme code:

add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array("post"));

  1. Go to functions.php
  2. Add
    add_theme_support( 'post-thumbnails', array("chronosly", "chronosly_organizer", "chronosly_places"));
  3. Save changes

2. CONTACT TO YOUR THEME SUPPLIER

We suggest to contact to your theme supplier and ask how could you enable those images.

This following information will be useful to brief your theme supplier:
